Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to faith formation for children. It was developed in Rome by Dr. Sofia Cavaletti and Gianna Gobbi in 1954 and has since expanded worldwide. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. It is based on the conviction that God and the child are already in a relationship. The task before us is to help the child deepen that relationship.
Catechesis takes place in a specially prepared environment called the atrium. The atrium is a place where the child is guided in a personal relationship with Jesus through presentations and simple materials for the child to use.
In our pastorate, CGS Levels 1 & 2 are available for children age 3 up to the time they begin preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion. (This is commonly 2nd grade year or, age 7.)

NOTE: 11/25 Thanksgiving Potluck & Advent Wreaths for the home.
December 7 & 14 (December 21 & 28 are Engagement Weeks)
January 4, 11 & 18 (January 25 is Engagement Week)
February 1, 15 & 22 (February 8 is Engagement Week)
March 1, 8, 15 (March 22 & 29 are Engagement Weeks)
April 5, 12 & 19 (April 26 is Engagement Week)
May 3 Last Class of the Year
Engagement Weeks are built into the schedule to create space for families to engage in pastorate life or enrich the faith life in the family. This could be attending or participating in a special liturgy, family faith formation, fellowship, doing a work of service together, or even a special opportunity for prayer such as Adoration, a novena or nightly rosary, etc.
